TCTSY – Trauma Center, Trauma Sensitive Yoga
is a recognised evidence-based intervention for Complex PTSD.

"No intervention that takes power away from the survivor can possibly foster her recovery, no matter how much it appears to be in her immediate best interest".

                                          - Judith Herman

TCTSY is developed together with trauma survivors.

Method is based on trauma theory, attachment theory and neurology. The core of the method is to be non-coercive and safe.

TCTSY facilitators are educated and held responsible for maintaining the ethics and quality of the practise.

Guidelines for ethical practise

Body based practise

TCTSY method is using practises of yoga, like movements and noticing of the breath. Anyhow, in TCTSY there is no aim for any specific form or any one way of doing. The purpose of the practise is to create possibilities for mind and body to connect and possibilities for nervous system to work in balance. You can participate from your body´s present moment.

More information:

What can I expect when participating a TCTSY practise?

- Non-coersive practise.

- Facilitator will offer real possibilities and space to choose and decide on one´s own practise.

- No hands-on-assistance or corrections- you will have your personal space.

- You are not asked to share your trauma history with a facilitator or a group.

- The practise is adapted to meet a client/participant´s present moment

To help balance personal needs for safety, social connection and financial access there are both individual and small group options to choose from, or you may choose to combine individual and group meetings. There might be some situations when meeting can be done also via Zoom, Skype etc.

For participating in TCTSY you are asked to have a therapeutical contact. It is shown to be most useful to combine body-based therapy with talk therapy. If you have any concerns, feel free to ask for more information or support for finding your local trauma informed therapist.

This is one example of TCTSY. The practise is equally done on a chair. Yoga mat is not part of the practice, but that is one option, if it feels useful.
